Implant Dentistry

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and restore the function and beauty of your smile. Our Roseville dentists use implant dentistry to help our patients regain the healthy smile they deserve.

Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants provide many benefits to our patients, including:
  • Long-term solution to tooth loss

  • Gain up to 95% of your regular chewing strength

  • Slow down or prevent future bone loss

  • No more recurring cavities on the implants or the crowns restored on them

Note

Dental implants are not the right solution for every patient. If you are not a good candidate for dental implants, you may benefit from:

  • dentures and partials

  • bridges and crowns

During your consultation with Dr. Kwan or Dr. Hsu, we are happy to answer your dental implant questions and help you make the well-informed decision that suits your lifestyle.

Implant Restoration

The final step in getting dental implants is receiving the permanent crown that will serve as your tooth over the implanted root. At Nu Smile, we use durable porcelain materials and color them to match your natural teeth. Your restored teeth blend seamlessly with your natural smile.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are substitutes for the roots of missing teeth. They act as an anchor for a replacement tooth, crown, or a set of replacement teeth. They are a permanent and durable alternative to dentures. Dental implants allow for natural speech, chewing and cleaning. Dental implants can also improve your smile since they are custom made to the aesthetic and functional qualities of your mouth.

Things to Consider
Can Dental implants be done quickly?

Depending on the situation, you may be a candidate for an instant dental implant. Contact our office for details. The dental implant process is a lengthy one and will require multiple visits to our office usually over a 3-6 month period. The first step requires a CT scan to determine if you have enough bone in your jaw in which to place the implants.

Who are good candidates for Implants?

Anyone in reasonably good health, without significant bone loss in the jaw, and who want to replace missing teeth, is an ideal candidate

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the dental implant procedure involve?

Once determined that you are a good candidate, the procedure is complete in two stages. First, we prepare the gum in preparation for the implant placement in the jawbone. The dental implants are then anchored to the jawbone using titanium screws. It takes 3-6 months for the implant anchors to fuse to the bone tissue properly. Once this has wholly healed, our doctors will prepare the actual prosthetic “teeth” for fitting. Once these “teeth” have been fitted, your procedure is complete.

Can the titanium implants be rejected?

There is no medical research showing rejection, in any surgery, of titanium metal. If a failure should occur in rare cases, it is mechanical, in nature, and not due to rejection by the body.

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants are integrated with the bone in your jaw and can last as long as natural teeth if adequately cared for.

What about infection and complications?

During your surgery, every attempt is made to maintain a sterile procedure area. Being thorough tends to minimize any potential infection. Our doctors will also prescribe appropriate antibiotics as a precautionary measure. It is essential to maintain good oral hygiene to prevent infection in the future.

Will I be able to chew and function normally?

Yes, once your implants have integrated, you will be able to function normally without any unusual sensations. Your chewing ability will depend on the type of prosthesis you have chosen.
